UJ Students Design a Two Dimensional Coordinate Measuring Machine UJ’s Faculty of Engineering students designed a Two Dimensional Coordinate Measuring Machine using a precise laser sensor, where any item not exceeding certain dimensions can be scanned to obtain its coordinates. Samer Faza’, a Mechatronics Engineering Student, who participated in designing the machine said that the dimensions are being saved and used by appropriate computer programs to obtain a two dimensional image. He pointed out that the machine can be used in different applications including quality assurance in any production line where the correct dimensions of manufactured pieces can be ensured. Yahia Maqableh, another student who participated in the design, said that machine is considered one of the best because of its precise measurements, and pointed out that measurements and specifications of different objects is of a great importance to scientists for research and development.
