Five Students Participate in the “16th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot” competition Five female students: Farah Al-Kayed, Salma Al-Zibdeh and Hala Qutaineh, from the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan, Hana Al-Kahtib from Yarmouk University, Nisreen Banat from Isra Private University traveled to Vienna to participate in the “16th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot” competition. The event, which was organized by the American Bar Association (ABA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and USAID, comes as part of a project on promoting law education funded by USAID through organizing activities that target enhancing the skills of law students. H.E. Ayman Odeh, the Minister of Justice patronized a ceremony on this occasion and offered financial awards to the three UJ students in recognition of their preparations for the competition. The students’ preparation for the competition lasted six months and were supervised by Dr. Nisreen Mahasneh, the Consultant for the American Bar Association in Jordan, who accompanied the students to Vienna. The American Bar Association also patronized different National Moot Courts competitions; the last of which was in January, 2009. It is worth mentioning that the participation in the competition will pave the way for faculties of law in different Jordanian universities to participate annually in the competition and will place law education in Jordan in a favorable position internationally.
