Humboldt Delegation Pays UJ a Visit

Vice-President Dia-Eddin Arafeh met with a delegation representing the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany and the Jordanian Club of Humboldt Fellows on May 12, 2009. The meeting was attended by the Vice- Dean of the Faculty of Science, Chairpersons of the Geology and Physics Departments, some UJ faculty who were Humboldt fellows, and the Director of the Office of International relations; Dr. Rami Ali. Prof. Arafeh briefed the guests on the history of the University, its policies, and the developments UJ has witnessed over the years, and the newly established branch in Aqaba city. He also stressed the strong relations that tie Germany and Jordan, and the possibilities of boosting scholar exchange at the post- doctoral level. Dr. Ali talked about the efforts to internationalize UJ and shed light on exchange programs the office has with many international counterparts, as well as UJ’s interest in quality assurance. The delegation members expressed interest in strengthening the relations of their respective institutions with UJ and discussed the possibilities of boosting faculty and students’ exchange.
