Ten University Scholarships given out in “Ahel Al- Himmeh” Winners’ Names

The Council of Higher Education dedicated 10 scholarships to be given out in the names of the winners of “Ahel Al-Himmeh” initiative in every university and in all specializations except medicine and dentistry. It is worth mentioning that “Ahel Al-Himmeh” is a national initiative to recognize the outstanding work and diligent efforts of those unsung Jordanian heroes who made positive and lasting changes in their communities. Queen Rania officially launched “Ahel Al-Himmeh” on the 10th of March; it will end with an award presentation ceremony in June 2009. The deadline to receive the forms was April 10, 2009. Applications will go through early screenings, followed by the selection of 30 finalists by a specialized selection committee comprised of independent experts and celebrities. After that, the public will be able to vote, free of charge, to choose the 10 winners.

A seed fund of JD30000 will be given to each hero to support his/her/their endeavors, as well as 10 scholarships named after each hero. Heroes themselves will also receive honorary certificates. The award will highlight the accomplishments of the unsung heroes in ten fields: Education, Health, Youth Leadership, Arts and Culture, Women Empowerment, Sustainable Development, Peace and Intercultural Dialogue, Child Development and Protection, Sports, and Community Empowerment.
